Welcome to the photo blog of Grace Liu-Anderson. Grace focuses on using available light in creative lifestyle photography. She enjoys photographing babies, children, families, engagements, & weddings. This blog is intended to be a little peek at "behind the scenes" - with a little about everything: sessions, life, family, resources, etc.

BUT historically Grace is a "bad blogger" which means, she doesn't blog often. We apologize for her negligence, but maybe some day she will become a consistent blogger...If you are her friend on facebook, she posts more sneak peeks of sessions on fb than she blogs.

We'd like to hear from you. Please feel free to leave comments and feedback. If you like what you see, contact us! info(at)liu-anderson.com

What to wear?

Some people wonder what to wear? Well that depends…
This is something we can discuss in our initial consultation. But here are some general guidelines:
For newborns – usually nothing. Bare skin photographs very well. We can also swaddle them or dress them in a hat or socks or what not.

For older children, simple styles and solid colors photograph well. We may also rummage around in the closets together to put together something fun (if we're at your home).

For family shots, you can choose to keep clothing consistent (similar colors/tones, sleeve lengths) for a cohesive portrait or you can coordinate colors (not everyone has to match). If you don't want to be "dated," I suggest you steer away from logos, graphics, lettering and characters. You can be more bold with bright coordinating colors – ultimately it’s up to you for the look you want to capture.

If you are doing a more photojournalistic lifestyle session, wear and do what you would normally wear everyday for those activities of the day.

Welcome!

Thanks for stopping by the photo blog of Grace Liu-Anderson, photographer specializing in on-location portraits of children and families in the Portland, TX & Corpus Christi area.

My Perspective

I enjoy working with children and their families. I photograph children of all ages from newborns, toddlers, and seniors, to grown-ups who are kids at heart. I hope to capture this precious time in life for you and your family.

My Style

I am not your "traditional portrait" photographer. I prefer lifestyle photography to posed portraits. I prefer to stay away from the "smile for the camera!" poses.

I like to photograph children in their natural state, with natural expressions, doing what they do best - being themselves. That is done best sometimes when parents are "less noticeable" and not directing the children.

I do take some traditional shots at the start of the session to get everyone used to the camera. We just go with the flow of the session and see where it takes us.
